After downloading a Claude skill file to my desktop, how do I actually use it in Claude?

1:08:47From the June 10 call · MCP Connectors, Custom Dashboards, and Skill Libraries in Practice

A member who built skills the prior week was able to open the downloaded skill file from their desktop but didn't know how to load it into Claude so it could actually be used. Another participant explained that the file needs to be saved/uploaded into Claude itself -- there's a specific place within Claude where you upload the skill file. The file is typically a markdown (.md) file, though one participant noted their download was a '.skill' file, which another suggested is likely a packaged bundle of multiple files (possibly a Mac-specific packaging format). The discussion was ongoing and not fully resolved by the end of this segment, with the member starting to share their screen to work through it live.
