How are firms using Gamma to create client-facing tax return presentations, and could tools like Perplexity or AI-generated video improve on this?
One member's process: after the AI review of the tax return, a prompt summarizing the major items in the return is generated and fed into Gamma, which produces a slide presentation for the client. They then record a Loom-style walkthrough of the presentation (not the raw tax forms) delivered personally by themselves or their tax manager. Clients have responded favorably compared to walking through the tax return documents directly. They have not yet tried AI-generated video tools (e.g., ElevenLabs-style avatar videos) instead of a personal Loom, though they've considered it, and haven't gotten to it this season due to workload. Another member suggested Perplexity, which draws on multiple AI models at once and has pre-built presentation templates, as potentially producing an even better result, and raised the idea of using AI (via skills in cloud co-work) to review lengthy year-end investment statements (e.g., from Schwab, Merrill Lynch) to generate client presentations on portfolio performance — comparing gains/losses, winners/losers, and rate of return — potentially exceeding what a client's financial advisor provides, and rivaling or beating tax-planning presentation tools like Corvee (referred to as 'Corv') or its successor. The first member agreed with this direction but has not yet implemented the investment-statement or Perplexity presentation approach.
