Bookkeeping Open question — the Lab is working on this

How can I get a live bank data feed for a client without using QuickBooks Online, since waiting for monthly statements isn't practical?

31:43From the June 17 call · Claude Skills, Model Selection, and Custom Client Dashboards

One option found using Claude for research is a service called SimpleFin, which costs about $1.50 a month. The client connects their own bank account with their own login credentials, so the firm never has to hold the client's banking passwords. Once connected, it creates a live data feed. The catch is that the feed still needs somewhere to flow into — you'd either need to build something in-house to receive it, or use an existing tool. One existing option mentioned was 'Actual Budget,' though it's more of a personal budgeting app than a full accounting ledger, so it doesn't fully solve the bookkeeping use case yet.
