How do you divide responsibilities between yourself and an engineering team when building AI-powered software as a non-technical founder?

11:12From the June 25 call · Cash's AI-Built Real Estate Accounting Platform Demo

The founder handles all of the business logic and subject matter expertise — things like amortization tables, transaction splitting, how a lease flows through to a property, how an account attaches to a property, and the difference between a bank account ledger and an entity or property ledger. They also have a good handle on the database and spend significant time on infrastructure meant to scale. Everything outside that — AI infrastructure, testing infrastructure, front end, and design — is handled by the engineering team, since the founder describes themselves as "a terrible designer." This division has enabled a fast development cycle; one feature discussed on the call went from idea to staging environment in seven days. It took going through three different engineering teams before finding the right working-style fit, so finding compatible collaborators willing to try new things was described as a critical and difficult part of the process.
