Getting started
How do you use voice/speech instead of typing when working with Claude?

You can press and hold the microphone button and speak your request out loud (e.g., "hey, I want to build this") rather than typing. Don't worry if the dictation gets some words wrong — Claude generally still understands the intent. On desktop, pressing the Caps Lock key activates 'speak to Claude' and starts a new chat. Speaking is preferred by some because it allows you to give much more context than typing, especially while traveling, since typing forces you to condense your thoughts first.
