Is it safe to use Claude for Chrome to work directly inside QuickBooks or web-based tax prep software for client work?
One member asked if anyone had used Claude for Chrome to poke around in QuickBooks or web-based tax prep software. Responses were mixed: one person hasn't tried it on client work but uses it for personal tasks they're too lazy to do themselves, and recalled a prior warning (attributed to "Jason" in an earlier session) not to trust the Chrome extension for client work yet since it's still in beta. Another wished there was a way to restrict it to only specific approved sites (like QuickBooks) — currently you can block sites it shouldn't go to, but not lock it to only go to specific ones. A different member said they use it constantly without issue, noting it asks for approval before every step and explains what it's doing, which is building their confidence, though they still want to do due diligence before turning it loose on tax software. Another view: watching it work closely now, even if slower than doing it yourself, means you'll be ahead of the curve once the tool matures or more secure options exist. One member was more cautious, saying they wouldn't trust it that much, but noted they don't do client work so it's a lower-stakes decision for them.
