Is there a risk of a surprise bill when using Claude Enterprise or Max due to usage-based pricing, especially with heavy multi-user or repetitive tasks?

The risk of unexpectedly high bills applies mainly to Enterprise, which bills based on usage rather than a fixed fee. This can get expensive quickly, especially with intensive tasks — one participant described using a $200/month Max account across five team members constantly, and a single audit task on a complex Excel file with many linked images and calculations could consume a large chunk of the usage window in just 10 minutes. You can set usage thresholds/parameters to cap spending, but you need to be more deliberate about usage hygiene and efficiency to avoid running through your allotment quickly.
